The Fucking games they play inside the beltway

I saw a meme yesterday regarding the federal furlough that went something like this:

We have to do our jobs and not get paid. Meanwhile, Congress continues to get paid and not do their jobs.

Can’t get any truer than that. Washington continues to play games with peoples lives (although I see few non-federal government people who really care much about what’s going on) to get their way in the ongoing partisan arguing and bickering.

People are going to see it one way or the other way depending on how they align with the political divide. That’s one thing. I get that. What bothers the fuck out of me is the unfairness in the way furloughs are handled when it happens. Non-mission essential and non-excepted employees get furloughed until the government is funded. Stay home. no workie workie. Those deemed mission essential and excepted employees continue to work without skipping a heartbeat alongside the active military, with promise of backpay later.

Once the government starts back up and the furlough is over, those who stayed home for x number of days all get their normal pay back as if they never were furloughed. They get paid for not working their normal straight time. The mission essential and excepted employees? they get the pay they WORKED FOR and not pay for staying home.

Now, I’m not putting an blame or wishing shortchanging the furloughed employees. But this is unfair to those who had to work. Those who were NOT furloughed should be compensated for that ‘extra work’ they did while their counterparts and colleagues were sitting at home, be it overtime, double-time (which it should be, really), or comp time.

I dare say this, since it’s my fucking site. Any furloughed employee who truly thinks otherwise, who thinks excepted and ME personnel deserve no more than them, are FUCKHEAD dumbasses. I know the employees around me who may think this way dare not tell me otherwise.
