Fixing this old laptop might get expensive!!

H Power Computing also messaged me about my M2800 laptop having Win10 installed. It’s not installing. They believe the motherboard is bad. So they quoted ordering a replacement (used from overseas) at $378.00. WTF do I do, abandon the effort with money already sunk in for the Windows 10 upgrade and the labor to troubleshooting/fix the laptop???…

Sought professional help (for laptop)!

It’s been over a week since I started trying to upgrade the old laptop (Dell M2800). I have been unusually patient, and it hasn’t aggravated me the way something like this normally would. Is this a lesson in futility?

So it’s day 4 messing with this damned old laptop (3 years old so it’s not really old) trying to upgrade it to Windows 10. It keeps hanging at about 85%. I get the error:

0xC1900101-0x40021

I run this setupdiag.exe that I downloaded to see why it is stopping, and it can’t find any failure signatures. Searching online and seeing many, MANY people having upgrade issues, I tried several things… updated BIOS, ran Windows 7 updates several times, updated drivers.…
