Mom had a back porch extension built between her back porch and detached garage, and then had a cement deck poured. Arthur’s (Galang) group did the work.
Back Yard Tree Removal
We hired a tree removal guy to remove the palms we had in the inside back yard so we could clear the yard for building a lanai and third car garage. The guy uprooted and took the trees for his church instead of trashing them.
Painting the House Interior
We painted the interior of the house… finally no all white (eggshell or something it was) walls and a less “sterile” looking atmosphere. Yeah, more lived in look and feel…
Added the Upstairs Loft
I suppose a vaulted ceiling enhances the look and ‘elegance’ of the house, but it sure is wasted space really. So since we were renovating the downstairs half bath into a full handicap ready bathroom, Lou and I decided to add a loft. I guess with the steel framing construction of the house it’s not as hard to add a floor in the living room space.…
Converting the half-bath
We converted the first floor half bathroom into a full bath and made it handicap accessible for Mom and Pop. It’s been a struggle for them to get upstairs to take showers, especially Mom with her blindness and being very weak these days. We put in a shower stall instead of a bathtub, with rails, etc.. I guess it was a rather big job for Arthur Galang to do, because he had to completely relocate the toilet and sink, which meant breaking up the concrete foundation to extend the piping to the sewer.
House Yard Photos
I took some pics of the yard before we embark on having the lanai and extended garage built.
