We need more storage space (who doesn’t!) and the main garage rafters area is full. Also, pushed mostly because of the recent rat problem and my inability to reach the crawlspace in the rafters inside the small garage and lanai ceilings, we decided to have Arthur Galang (he did all our past home renovations)… Continue Reading “More Storage Space”
Mom has been wanting to have sidewalks built on both sides of her house, especially since grass on each side doesn’t grow well (not enough sunlight underneath the overhang). Today Tony Galang (Arthur’s brother) and his crew came over to start the prep and initial digging. I had to go over with boltcutters… Continue Reading “Mom’s house project”
We’d been talking about extending the back porch into a small lanai for some time now, because it just wasn’t enough room from the rain when we smoke. As the contemplating went on, I also decided I need a 3rd car garage to get my truck off the street. We hired a tree removal guy to remove the palms we had in the inside back yard so we could clear the yard for building a lanai and third car garage. The guy uprooted and took the trees for his church instead of trashing them.
We painted the interior of the house… finally no all white (eggshell or something it was) walls and a less “sterile” looking atmosphere. Yeah, more lived in look and feel…
I suppose a vaulted ceiling enhances the look and ‘elegance’ of the house, but it sure is wasted space really. So since we were renovating the downstairs half bath into a full handicap ready bathroom, Lou and I decided to add a loft. I guess with the steel framing construction of the house it’s… Continue Reading “Added the Upstairs Loft”
We converted the first floor half bathroom into a full bath and made it handicap accessible for Mom and Pop. It’s been a struggle for them to get upstairs to take showers, especially Mom with her blindness and being very weak these days. We put in a shower stall instead of a bathtub, with rails, etc.. I guess… Continue Reading “Converting the half-bath”
I took some pics of the yard before we embark on having the lanai and extended garage built.
