September 1980 this song was released. The same month Lou came to visit me here (Honolulu), 5 months before we got married. At the time, after being apart for a while while I was doing Uncle Sam’s bidding and we were waiting for the right time to get married, I got to Hawaii and started thinking hmmm maybe staying single might work better while I check out what Hawaii has to offer.
Well, no sooner had I hinted at that with her did she show up in town. We spent a few awesome weeks together, and my idea of living the single life was no more. And this song was on the airwaves, and forever etched itself onto my mind’s memory of this time. The lyrics all ring, and still ring, true and accurate.
I sing this to her everyday in my heart and soul, and have done so since that time.
