I had just watched (an obvious re-airing of) Richard Jeni’s 2005 cable special “A Big Heaping Pile of Me” in early ’07. Lou and I had decided that he was good (in our book), funny, and that we should keep track of coming specials and performances of his. Funny how that went down. As it were, there will be no coming specials or performances. A few months later, March 2007 I think it was, Richard Jeni killed himself. Wikipedia, among other sources, document his life, death, and medical issues that led to his suicide. It’s just sad that someone who made a living making people laugh was himself so far from happy in his life. Rest in peace Mr. Jeni.
