I despise this sh**. I’ve lamented about it before. I’ll bet many who enjoy sharing content on their profile timeline, page, group, etc., get this broken link notice quite a bit. Like I copy and paste the “share” link on YT and put it on my timeline. Then later on the original owner/poster of the content on YT removes it.…

Category: Other Techie Shit
Other tech stuff not necessarily related to the site but worth hanging onto for later reference; generic computer stuff, be it app or hardware. You know like “Oh f*** so that’s where the telnet command in Windows went”…
New Captcha plugin
I changed the Captcha plugin for the reg, login, password reset, and comments user inputs . The one I’ve been using has been causing errors or interference with some other things. Funny, it used to be fine for the longest time as far as I can tell. Oh well…
YT Videos Update
Listing LINUX directory tree
Not sure why I didn’t capture this before since I did it for the music collection. To update I had to google it all over again. So… future reference!
The command at the CLI (login using PuTTY or SSH):
tree > music.txt
The tree will be directed to a text file called music.txt
Also, as there are a few directory names with spaces and Linux doesn’t like spaces in the direcotry names, to change directory to them, use quotes:
cd “Chamorro Christmas”
Let’s not forget this shit in the future……

Done with old laptop’s upgrade effort
I got an email from H Power Computing asking if I wanted to replace my motherboard or not on the M2800. Apparently they didn’t read my last message to them telling them go ahead as a go ahead. So since I had the chance, I rolled that decision back and told them never mind, just restore it to the Windows 7 OS running and I would forget about Win10.…

Fixing this old laptop might get expensive!!
H Power Computing also messaged me about my M2800 laptop having Win10 installed. It’s not installing. They believe the motherboard is bad. So they quoted ordering a replacement (used from overseas) at $378.00. WTF do I do, abandon the effort with money already sunk in for the Windows 10 upgrade and the labor to troubleshooting/fix the laptop???…

Sought professional help (for laptop)!
It’s been over a week since I started trying to upgrade the old laptop (Dell M2800). I have been unusually patient, and it hasn’t aggravated me the way something like this normally would. It helps that it’s not the main computer, of course! But… I’ve given up trying on my own. I messaged H Power Computing aka Digital Solutions, the computer fix-it place I took this same laptop to in 2017, on Saturday to bring it in today.…

Is this a lesson in futility?
So it’s day 4 messing with this damned old laptop (3 years old so it’s not really old) trying to upgrade it to Windows 10. It keeps hanging at about 85%. I get the error:
0xC1900101-0x40021
I run this setupdiag.exe that I downloaded to see why it is stopping, and it can’t find any failure signatures. Searching online and seeing many, MANY people having upgrade issues, I tried several things… updated BIOS, ran Windows 7 updates several times, updated drivers.…

Old Dell laptop on ventilator
So in attempting to use my old Dell M2800 laptop for the online meeting, I decided to go ahead and upgrade it to Windows 10. I’ve been trying to upgrade it all day and evening now. It keeps erroring out. I purchased the Win10 upgrade so I’m kinda committed or will just waste my money because it’s non-refundable as a software download!…

My Ghetto Keyboard
Alas the junk computer peripherals I had to dig out of the closet in order to make my telework workstations more functional. I had to re-use an old keyboard for my PSA workstations laptop, and it was already worn. In the 4 months that I’ve been using iot, the keys wore out even more. I had to use labelmaker to spruce it back up so I know what keys I’m pressing.…
