Guam in the Distance…

I have this “discussion” several times over the last decade. I want to know why when one group talks about drilling for new oil reserves, we as a country are told that once oil reserves are found and tapped, it will take two or more years to see the results in gas prices at the pumps. However whenever there is unrest in areas where we currently get oil, we see an immediate spike in gas prices. The local gas station went from $2.97 on Wednesday to $3.21 on Thursday.

I’m not stupid, any excuse to generate a profit is taken advantage of by those that can. You can tell me it’s because of our dependence on foreign oil, but the US gets most of its oil from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait (I don’t remember the other locations), Nigeria to name a few, not Libya.

So it’s the Chinese driving pricing up. What about the current oil contracts in place? I worked with a few guys trying to broker oil in early 2000. Those contracts set a price for a year. I don’t buy that lie.

Okay, time to pass the mic. Any thoughts?

Dude you know what would be nice, is a latest comments thing so members can see what the latest posts are. I know the latest blog entries are on the front page but latest comments to those blog entries get buried as the entries themselves age. Know what I mean? Does that make sense?
