I was supposed to have the day off from work, one that was a long time coming. Mike Enos called me at about 5am or so and asked me if I have seen the TV news. I told him I hadn’t, and he suggested I check CNN and then decide if I still wanted to take the day off. I quickly turn on the TV and see replaying footage of the first hijacked plane hitting the first (north or south?) tower. It was totally unreal. Well, so much for taking the day off. I got dressed and sped off to work.
It was still early on and the scope of the terrorist attacks was still underway, so I got on Wheeler AAF thru the back gate with little traffic or security check procedures. But by the time the official start of the duty day kicked in the gates (on all military installations) had gone to the highest force protection phase, traffic was snarled, and even the commander (was it COL Walker at the time?) couldn’t get in for hours.
Another day in infamy.

Justin was born a preemie. Lou half jokes it was because at 7 months pregnant on Christmas Day I made her walk all the way into the Kunia Tunnel for our Christmas luncheon… and two days later she goes into labor and Justin is born! He was born at Kapiolani childrens Medical Center in Honolulu, HI.
I have pics, but gotta scan them… later…

Peaches was born. Kapiolani Children’s hospital. I had really only thought of myself as having a son, at least as the first born, so it was surreal to have a daughter! This pic was taken on Guam after we flew to Guam (emergency leave) when Peaches was only 3 weeks old.
Reception after the wedding

We had our reception at the Mangilao social hall. Back then it was on BPM Road. It was a great party as I remember it, but us being the centerpiece of it all, sitting at the head table, etc., was cramping my style. Lou and I left the reception before it ended, but after the formal festivities of course. We took off and went to Shakey’s Pizza!
